AGH it DOUBLE Posted just to add that....Anyway:

THE FLUTE

What Brand is your primary flute?
Yamaha

What model or model number?
YFL-674

How old is it?
Hmm I really don`t know...I bought it just about 2 years ago.

Do you like it?
I really enjoy it.

What is your favorite feature on your flute?
More projection with it, clearer sharper sound, the offset G (my first student flute was offset and when I got a gemeinhardt 3shb for highschool got the inline and really didn`t like that), looks very pretty although already tarnishing underneath all the mechanisms.

Is there anything you would change on it?
I think I might have perfered it without the split E mechanism. It didn`t come with plugs either. When I asked for some the store I got it from made some cork plugs for me and were like "you`re not suppose to play with them." DUH jeeze so what. I use them especially if you get a cut.

What material is your flute made of?
Sterling silver head and body, silver plated keys

Do you use the headjoint supplied with the flute?
yes, it`s an EC headjoint.

What is your dream flute?
Don`t know. I`d like to try muramatsu, haynes, powell, armstrong see how those sound. I`ll probably try them through fluteworld.

Have you made any modifications to your flute?
No, but added small my little pony stickers on the case with my name and adress. Unlike my highschool flute case which is COVERED in drawings and stickers!

Other Features you`d like to mention?
I allways liked the smaller no handle wooden case with no handle to put in a bag. Looked more sleeker. I have an SKB flute bag/case I put it in which I love and allows me to put all music related stuff and at times music although gets rolled.

B or C foot
B foot

Anything else about your flute you want to mention?
No, I love flutes though!

THE PICCOLO (Ignore this section if you don`t play piccolo)

What Brand is your piccolo
Gemeinhardt

What model is it?
I really don`t know, my friend is borrowing it to play in our community band. We are all splitting The Chymes of Liberty march flute/picc solo. Half on the flute and half on picc. It`s full body and head black plastic which is exactly what I wanted. Didn`t want to worry about a wooden picc. I don`t play it enough to want to worry about caring for it that much. I thought it might be more durable then a metal one. Plus I never liked a mini flute head version for picc, you have to change your embochure anyway. And I didn`t think it looked nice half plastic half metal head. But that`s me.

What material is your piccolo made of?
Plastic

Do you like it?
Very much.

What is your dream piccolo?
I have no idea. I really only like picc for marching stuff.

Anything else about your piccolo you want to mention?
I used it in high school marching band and one night it just POURED and my pads got drenched. I did put it away but too late to get wet! One pad kept comming out and my director would put a lighter by the key to melt the glue to stick it back in! I recenlty took it to a repairperson who just replaced a couple of the pads and sounds nice still.

THE MUSICIAN

How long have you been playing flute?
15 years (I feel old)

What Musical Education have you received?
I learned flute through USA school band programs since 4th grade and continued all through highschool when I recieved private lessons in high school for 4 years. That is the only thing I really miss from school, the band program especially in high school where you meet longer, marching band so you are playing music all the time and hanging with all the band kids. Plus band trips were great! I learned flute initially in 4th grade in CT then moved to northeast pa 5th grade till HS. I then played in my college band which is also a community band that I still play in now. We only practice once a week but play fall, winter, spring concerts and commencement for the college.

What is your favorite flute piece?
I really really enjoy Teleman especially sonata in c minor and Fantaisias, I like bach sonatas a lot, Danse de la Chevre, and I recently got into Syrinx which is gorgeous.

How would you rate you playing level? (Be Honest )
I`m not professional but I guess intermediate to advanced.

How would you classify yourself musically? (technichian, student, professional, other)
Student/Amatuer

Anything Else you`d like to add about yourself?
I think I typed enough!

I`m going to watch figure skating now...

What is your dream piccolo?
Not too sure again! Professional standard wooden piccolo probably, for orchestral playing. But then I`d want another one for band playing - a plastic/silver head top of the range one!! Yes, I would have 2 dream piccolos!
Anything else about your piccolo you want to mention?
I am praying for its safe return.

THE MUSICIAN

Umm... approximately 12.5 years
What Musical Education have you received?

Other!
Anything Else you`d like to add about yourself?

Oi the British and their school system...

In Britain the sixth form (US 11th + 12th grade) are in "colleges" which is the equivalent of "High school" upon graduation students go to "University".

GCSE Music = Basic Music Theory
AS-level Music = Half way point to "college" (High School) diploma (US grade 11)
A2-Level Music = Final test for "college" (High School) diploma (US grade 12)
Both AS and A2 form the A-level requirement grduation from high school.

Just a clarification for those who may misinterpret British education levels.

I sing. The most advanced work I`ve performed was the Drinking Song of Earth`s Sorrow from Gustav Mahler`s Das Lied von Der Erde (sp?). I love art songs. Though there`s not really an opportunity to sing big classical works outside of a school.

I`ve done Lady of Spain... (the Forever Plaid version) in a few different venues (with comedic backup). I can hold out a note for a veeeeeeeeeerrrryy long time.

I did Seymour in a college production of Little Shop of Horrors just a year ago.

My vocal range is a comfortable F below the C below middle C on up to the B above middle C (and I used to be a bass in high school! lol).
