Hi again! I was just thinking to myself about how many embarrassing moments I've had in band. We were having a playing test when I was in the 6th grade and I was NERVOUS! There were probably about 35 other clarinets that had to play before it was my turn. I was so nervous that I forgot how to put my reed on! When the teacher came to me, I tried to blow, but nothing but air came out. "Um, you're reed's on backwards. I'll come back to you." I was SO embarrassed! My reed was on BACKWARDS! That's probably the most novice thing a clarinet player could do. Well, it's nice to know I won't do that again! Anyone else have a story they want to share?

Oh that happened to a guy just the other day at band camp. He's a senior but he usually plays saxophone...He decided to switch to clarinet for his last year. When he was tuning it woudln't play right so our director checked his reed and it was on backwards...and he had the screws on the wrong side facing the wrong way. She just fixed it and shook her head saying, "..Stupid saxophones..." and then went to the next person.
LOL when I desided to switch back to saxophone in 9th grade.
And Got Tenor sax. I forgot to tighten one of screws. When I blew not thing but air came out.
I think one of the worst things that can happen in a band is at the end of the song when everyone is holding a note and the band director cuts everyone off and there is one person who isn't paying attention and hangs on too long. Or they play the last note too late. This has never actually happened to me.... not that I would admit it if I did
Once, we were performing a song (yes for an audience) , and our director told us to stop at measure 115, even though the song was 150 measures, and a bunceh of clarinets kept playing after the song was over!
Our band was recording a CD when I first started band and in one piece the clarinets play a melody and the flutes imitate it a bar later. Well I wasn't concentrating and came in with the clarinets. All my section were trying not to laugh because nobody else had noticed. however on the CD you can hear it and it makes me cringe every time I hear it
haha well one time we were playing a song and our band director cut us off before this really fast/loud part and of course.. i kept playing along with another girl beside me. it was soooo embarassing cuz we didn't stop till he was like right in front of us!!!!!
This didn't happen to me, but if it did...We were at our FBA competition for marching season to get our rating two years ago. It was our first year with a flag/colorguard group, and we had a new instructur for our crappy dancers...well, one of the flags left their flag right in the way of a bass drummer. We had to go backwards and the poor kids hat fell off. Then, one of our flutes went to pick up the flag when we were leaving the field, after several of us had yelled/whispered to her to drop it, she did. And on top of all of that, our dancers did their cadence dances through out the entire song because the dumb instructor was too busy looking at uniforms to make the dance...but surprisingly, we still got superior!!!
I remember during a 8 bar rest in 6/8. I mis counted and started way to early and ended up playing by myself on my piccolo during homecoming. Everybody started laughing on the field because I was playing the wrong song!!!
LOL at a recent game, the two drum majors called attention, then one got confused and called attention again while the other yells horns up, and i was the only one who put my sax up, and everyone thought i was doing the sax solo in Unforgettable, so it wasnt AS emabarrasing.
HAHAHA..awww. you guys how funny. i need to catch up on this forum. :]
OMG. okay so minee. HHmmm..let's see. OMG! OMG! okay, so it's pre-game for marching. and we all stand atention. and u know the foot of the flute? well. while i was holding my flute (vertically). it FALLS off! hahaha. SOOOO many ppl. and it was SOOOoo funny. and also during our halftime marching show. i was very..hmm.. wobBBLY. i couldn't march. it was weiRD!! i was swaying side by side. and hahaha. and i figured out that my B.D was watching me the WHOLE time so i was like. OH goSH! hehe!
funnny. i have SOoo many!
this did not happen to me it happend to some one i know she plays the sax and i nour concersts they sit on a little raiser and her chair tipped over backwards,.... she was in a skirt
Somebody left a flag out on the football field, right when the band was going into a follow-the-leader curve. Well, the curve had gone out about two steps two far, and I was marching backwards. I didn't see the flag and tripped over it. I fell right over, and so did about half of the flute section Luckily, it was an out of town game, and none of my friends and family not in band saw it...
ouur band, who recently went to state finals, during our fourth song, one of the tubas flanked, fell, and did a split on the field, and played a note when he fell
