OK! One of my FAVORITE songs ever is based on Gabriel's Oboe...Nella Fantasia. Sarah Brightman sang it, but Russell Watson did an AMAZING version of it. I highly recommend listening to it!!!
I should look that up. I'm afraid I've never heard Sarah Brightman's singing. I've heard about her though. I've always pegged her along with Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and Charolotte Church.
(ie... if it's classical AND popular... it must classical music with POP styling)
I really like these Vanilla Mood video clips though! There should be more classical campy quartets like that.
But dont you think ts a bit odd how they [Vanilla Mood] move//dance or w/e u wanna call it? I tried that playing a mini version of Sakura and yes its hard.
How do you get from Hokusai to Hello Kitty, and from Bushido to Kawaii?
I'm guessing it's something to do with the experience of being subjected to nuclear attack. The resulting desire to be seen as childlike and non-threatening.
Anyway, our sys-admin has blocked access to YouTube, too much bandwith was being used up, so I haven't actually seen any of those clips. Interesting article about Japan though...
Oooh thanks for all the nice music clips! I love Grover playing the flute! I LOVE Sarah Brightman and Charlotte Church reminds me of her. Sarah Brightman did a remake of Queens Who Wants to Live Forever and it is GORGEOUS! She also did a popish twist to I believe Bolero but titled different. James Galway did a version of it on is Meditations disc and I ADORED it especially on flute great!
Winter Light (From song end of the movie The Secret Garden)
emm this seems a little racey she's not wearing much and close ups of certain body parts...you've been warned! But she's covered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFT9rBlxCJg&mode=related&search=

Me too, and sometimes even looking at Charlotte Hill she reminds me of Sara Brightman. I think Sara Brightman has more pop sounds in her pieces mixed with classical works. I like it a lot!
I don't understand these buttons to link and quote I click before writing to see if I can type it in doesn't work, or a type then highlight what I want quoted then click button doesn't seem to work. I thought the link button did but I'm not sure if it recognizes the link automatically!
