Hi, wonder if anyone can give a review or suggestion on BandNow student flutes. They are going for a pretty low price now at WWBW and I am thinking of getting one...is it really as good as the site claims it to be?

Thanks!

Stone

If you are thinking of getting a new flute, I`d say that Yamaha are definately the best, but can be pricey!
I`d have 2 say though, that I love the Signet U.S.A it`s not cheap, but it`s not gonna break the bank either!

May I just point out that a make of flute doesn`t always determine its fate. I have found (with previous experience) that certain no-name flutes can actually play very well and last very long, if maintained to the greatest extent (moreso than a normal flute would require). It is normally a player who will do the most damage to the flute, as he/she has the most direct impact on it. So take care of your flutes! I personally wouldn`t recommend this `BandNow` flute, but I wouldn`t say no to all `no-name` brands.

Hell NO! Jupiter and all those other brands you never heard of should go out of buisness!! I mean, they are wasting resources for instruments when, Yamaha and Geimianheart? Can use them! ONLY! buy instruments from Yamaha and Geimienheart!!!!

Dustin, there are many other top brands of flute, including many you have seemingly not heard of.

I regard myself as reasonably ignorant of brands and models, yet I have worked on around 130 brands and a few hundred models.

Take a look at this list for a start. I don`t think it includes any `rubbish`:

Dustin if your going to recommend a junk flute, at least spell it right. It is GEMEINHARDT.

I wouldn`t exactly call them `junk`, when perhaps 90% (guessing) of the at least 150+ other brands are probably worse in at lest some respects.

O.K. I would just like to say something to Dustin. Come back and talk to us when you can actually spell Gemeinhardt CORRECTLY!!! Also, not all so called No name companies are crap. Yes Jupiter brand anything is junk (yes!!! We`ve heard of them), but today`s no names are tommorow`s Gemeinhardt`s or Yamaha`s. They just haven`t grown in size or reputation because of Insufferable Snobs like you!!! Yes you (Dustin)!!!!!

Don`t be too pedantic about minor spelling errors in a forum. It is not a good `look`, when there are far more pertinent things to comment on. In some forums comments about spelling are banned, because they interfere with the discussion, and are an unnecessary put-down of a person, usually by somebody with a rather conspicuous superiority complex that nobody really wants to know about.

There is little correlation between spelling ability and intelligence or having something worthy to say.

O.K. Arak, the way Dustin said "Hell No" was probably a dead giveaway to his intelligence. Also, I said one thing about spelling, also, I`m not the only one in this forum to comment on it. I said one sentence on it. The REST of my entry was about the way he said so called "No Name" Brands should be avoided. That was the main idea of my entry. You completely missed the point.
