Hi everyone,

How many of you have a high E facilitator or doughnut on your flute?

Do you like it?

Do you think it makes a difference when playing high E?
- intonation
- ease of hitting high E from an A4 to E3?
- slurring notes up to and down to high E?

Is your high E facilitator plastic or metal?

Does the material of the doughnut make a differece in tone?

I am thinking about having one put on my Muramatsu, but I am not sure if I really want to alter my flute. I guess my high E's are okay 90% of the time. Like most people, I would love to have something that would make my life easier.

Thanks for your input

If you want to sort of 'try it out', you can put a half-cm-or so of glad press-n-seal over the lower G tonehole.

The high-E comes in a 'donut' but also as a smaller key altogether (I've seen it on an older Emerson) or as a 'moon' shaped insert, I think.

Anyway, the plastic won't hurt the flute, but do be careful not to bend anything. You shouldn't have to remove the keys or anything to get it to work.
