i was looking for this book because james galway and some other flutist said its a really good book...But i have not personally looked it through and i don't want to buy a $80-$100 book without any info on it aleast.
So i was wondering has anyone looked at it or plays out of it?
You've got to be a pretty darn serious player to wallow in that stuff.
Serious meaning spending hundreds/thousands of hours wotrking on it, not just thinking that by buying the book, the pain of the expense, and looking at the book, will make you a good player. :-)
I have it. There's alot of excellent material in there, but yes, you have to be pretty dedicated to first pay the $100 price tag, then work out of it every day. Many flutists are fine with just the 17 daily exercises
I just needed something more advanced cause the Advanced Rubank Studies are to easy for me...Even though I'm only 17 and still in high school I'm pretty dedicated to the flute 3-4 hours a day.
And then, once you are enjoying the T&G 17 big daily book, delve into any of the study books by Marcel Moyse. These are the sort of things that us flute practice addicts enjoy.
I was lucky enough to have my parents buy it for me a few years ago. Now if I need music, I must save up from my paychecks or make copies from friends.
Being a college student isn't what it's cracked up to be at all.
i suggest to buy it. i started out with the moyse excercise book and i just recently bought the taffanel/golbert and it is REALLY GOOD! and it shouldnt cost you $100. i got it for around $30.
