Um... Are you talking about taking/doing drugs and playing the flute?! If so, for starters I'd suggest to not take drugs unless prescribed and as long as your NEEDED drugs are followed with a good amount of water (as you'd be swallowing whatever it is) it should be ok. If you're worried about it still try brushing your teeth after taking the medicine.

Well, drugs could make you suck at an instrument, point blank. Playing while on drugs...no...bad idea.

I would suggest that you take the pain killers that you obviously need right now and take a break from flute right now. Your body is telling you that you need this. I know it is sucky, but it will pass Get some rest.
You may want to explain your situation to the other members on here so that they have more in site on what drugs you are referring to. I only know because you are on my facebook page.

"Drugs"?...are we talking about marijuana, alcohol, cocaine, black tar heroin...? There are so many different drugs, they all do different things. Cigarette smoking is probably the worst practice of "drug" use, as I would speculate the tar and other poisonous substances getting inside the flute would be bad. Also, heavy alcohol consumption might have a negative physical effect on the flute and your playing considering alcohol dehydrates.

Like anything, it never hurts to drink a glass of water before playing you instrument. This will tend to clear you mouth and throat of anything harmful.
