This forum is dead. It's been like this for about 2 weeks.

Why won't anyone post anything?!? Doesn't any one wish to talk about oboes?

I think something needs to be done! The clarinet and flute forums seem very popular, but not the oboe one.

I hope something can be done.

Hi Canadian – I think they're all too busy making reeds. I'm a non-oboist (occasionally I write for the oboe) but I came upon 8notes in the first place because I was googling around looking for an oboe forum. I hope this one becomes more active again!

My particular interest: what gaps (or sparse areas) are there in the oboe's repertoire that a composer or arranger might look at filling?

Hmm, thanks for the reply. It seems we have about 3 active members x__x.

What are the different styles of reeds?

I've heard there's American, French, and German but what's the differnece?

I can always pretend I play the oboe.

Or I can just talk about how I want to play the oboe.

How I know someone who plays the oboe...

I don't know.

Hmmm – I think oboe d'amore specialists would be in for a bit of a lonely time.

KayTheBassClarinet – you could write something for oboe – or oboe and bass clarinet, come to think of it.

I guess I could join. I played oboe for 6 months last year. I miss it though. When I have enough money I think I'll buy one.

I want to get this composing computer thing, but it costs way too much money.

It's really good, and I wrote Delusions and the other song with it.

I just don't have the money.

I'm going to try to get someone to teach me to play the oboe.

Somehow.

i have the same thing Canadian, but the music director at my church has the full version of Finale on her computer in her office, and she says she'll let me use it when she's not in the office.

We had a free trial of Notation Composer, but our trial ran out, so now my brother uses Noteworthy Composer and Finale Notepad.

I haven't tried them because I loved Notation Composer too much. I'm just not used to anything at all worse.

I guess I'll have my brother put some on my computer so I can write some more awesome songs.

Ai!
