Hi, the lowest possible note on oboe is Bb (european b) right? at least according to most instrumentation texts.
well the question is, can the oboe play note 1/4 tone lower than Bb (between A and Bb). using some trix etc. to lower the lowest note slightly?
thanks.

That low B flat has a tendency to go flat anyway on the oboe. I'm almost certain that you could play the A natural right below it if you wanted to for whatever reason. Maybe not with ease, or on a reed that plays a little on the sharper side.. but I believe it is possible! I'm just usually trying to bring the pitch of my B flat up, not down! lol good luck to you!
