i`m kinda pssed my mom has to pay $10 for 1 reed are there any cheaper or better oboe reeds other than jones?

I personally use Fox Reeds. They only cost my parents $7 a piece, and with good care they last me at least 3-5 months without breaking.

My oboe reed are bought by the school...so i don`t have to pay...I`m not sure about the brand though...only knows it costs S$29.20...yea...about this price...

yea getting good reeds for cheap is never going to happen with the oboe. If you want to become a good player, though, my adivce is find a private teacher. Most private teachers either can make a reed for you during the lesson if you give them a staple or just give you areed that they made before.

marlin lesher pro hand scraped reed
made with a silver tube. last me a long time. also foxs are goods and mesons. jones suck

I`ve played Oboe for 3 years now and i`m first chair and the reed the works best for me is Meason. If I can tell you anything then don`t buy a reed because of the color of the thread holding it together.
