The clarinet has one of the largest range of notes so I wouldn`t be too hurt by your clarinet friend.

Anyways, I`m not an oboe player but here is a fingering chart. I`m sure it goes to the highest possible note.

It depends apon if you have a 3rd foot key. Without the key you can get a low C to a high F (above the staff.)

The lowest note is a B flat below the staff(2nd space) and the highest used note is usually a G above the staff

Tell your friend that squeaks don`t count as notes, he-heh.

It is possible to play from b flat below middle c to what is often called `super c`, which is three octaves above middle c. The notes up above g``` are quite unreliable and sometimes never come out.
The highest note I have ever come across in standard orchestral repertoire is a high in a``` in Stravinsky`s Pulcinella Suite.

yea lowest is b flat. some manufactuers have made oboes that go down to low a but that was just useless so it died out. i can get up to high g above high c. from the e flat to that g, the third octave key helps but you dont really need it . after g i can get g sharp and a but i have to use third octave key.
