How about the flight of the Bumble-bee, Rimsky-Korsakov?
JUST KIDDING!!
Is this Canon in D the easy version? If so, take a look at the little drop-down on the violin songs menu. Click easy, and it's all yours.
Be prepared to do some deep digging -- this is mixed with piano accompaniment everywhere. Don't be discouraged! Find a piece with a name you can pronounce that sounds nice, and look to see if there is an accompaniment. If not, Bingo! There's your party piece. PRACTICE IT.

I'd recommend this piece called 'sad violin'
It's not hard to play as it concentrates on the feeling you put into it rather than the difficulty.
I have the music if you want it, but listen to it on youtube first
hope this helps

Okay, I know this is an oboe piece, but it would sound great on the violin. It's Schumman's Romance No. 2. Sorry if I misspelled the composer.

'Humoresque' by Dvorak is a lovely piece, especially if you wring out the second half. There are also parts of 'Adagio in G minor' by Albinoni(really by Giazotto, it's complicated lol) which you could manage, and that's perhaps the most heart wrenching piece of classical music I've ever heard. If you fancy something different, why not try a piece of Irish traditional music? 'Inisheer' is a lovely tune(slow it down, lilt it a bit, and add some ornamentation), as is 'The Wounded Hussar'(again, slow it right down, and add some grace notes(called 'cuts' by traditional players)). The sheet music for the traditional tunes is available at www.thesession.org . Hope that helps.

A great song by Bach is Bourree, from Cello Suite #3.
I just cannot pass up the opportunity to venture my favorite song as of right now.

All violin, all pronouncable, all yours!

You might want to look for a pretty waltz for your folks.
Or... find out a nice song that was popular when they were younger (even ask them what song was their favorite) and learn it.
Sounds like a very nice thing you're doing!
