Growing up by a Hungarian neighborhood I was listening to Gypsies and their music early in life. It should be mentioned that part of my family is Appalachian and part Irish so I got to hear some unusual fiddle music also.
I have been playing since 1968 but mostly puttering along for personal enjoyment for a long while. I started under the teaching and influence of a personal friend of Yehudi Menuhin`s.
By popular demand of those who heard me occasionally, I started teaching violin in 1992.
I have been playing viola since 2002 as a welcome switch. It is particularly pleasant on things like Ashokan`s Farewell and other historical; or movie type themes.
Much of my guitar music has a violinistic
and/or viola flavor.
There IS violin on some of it. You can listen on NYC`s WFMU Shrunken Planet Playlist for Sept.13, `03, June 5, 04, or
June 20, `04 just go to THEIR website.
