Hey everyone!
Well i`ve been playing on my strings for quite a while and they need to be replaced. I bought the red label super sensitive strings and only replaced the A string just to see how it sounds (partly cuz my A string snapped), and honestly, those strings are really bad. Perhaps they are beginner strings? Well, they don`t give me the type of tonal quality, and zing, that I had with my previous strings. I would buy replacements for the previous strings I had on my viola, but they were put on by the shop person and I don`t know what brand they are. I would say i`m an advanced violist playing at the high school (going to college) level. D`Addario Prelude, Helicore, Lar-sen, Pirastro, Dominant?????? Does anyone have any suggestions for good strings ?

Dominants are good quality all round strings - nice durability and tone quality. Personally I find Lars/ens way to bright - I sound like a violin when I play with them on my viola!

PS It is really annoying that it finds a rude word in Lars en!

Dominants are very popular with viola players but it does depend on the insrument. Tell us something about your instrument, maybe somebody can make a better suggestion.

well i don`t know how to explain my instrument, but its definitely not a bright viola. it has a very deep, uh, tonal(?) quality. also, the varnish on the viola is dark brownish, and not the typical color with the reddish-wood look.

I would recommend C,G,D Eva Prazzi and an A string Larson. Best string combo i think. Good luck

Btw I`m viola guy.

Yeah, having advocated the Dominants, I now use Piastro Obligato`s and love `em.

Truly mellow, viola sound.

That`s just my opinion
