Some orchestra invited me to play with them but I play cello only for 3 months, I`m not sure if I`m good enough. Well, I know it depends on how good you are after 3 months of playing (I used to play the piano for 12 years before I started the cello), but I`m wondering after what time did YOU start to play in orchestra?

I played cello (self taught) for about 2 or so months before I joined an orchestra and I can`t believe how much I`ve improved in that time. Even if you just finger the notes and not actually play with your bow for the first couple of rehersals, just to get into it. You are kinda `forced` to keep up which makes you push yourself and become a better cellist. Don`t worry about messing up, just give the person next to you a strange look if you play a wrong note. Playing in an orchestra is great fun and you can really improve !!! Good Luck !!!

Lucille,

I wonder how good the orchestra members are at playing; beginners, intermidiate, advanced? Well no matter, if the orchestra person didn`t want you, then he/she probably wouldn`t of asked you in the first place!

You should try to learn the music, and if its too hard, then don`t do it!
