I've been playing for a while now, and I think that I might start performing soon. So I already have an electric, but I'm interested in doing some acoustic songs as well. Is an acoustic-electric guitar a good move or should I stick to ye olde microphone next to the sound hole?
Also, does anyone have any information on Pan guitars? That's what I've been playing on and I want to know if I should put the money into it to get it refretted or not.

Using a mic is a bad idea. You're going to want to go with an acoustic pickup - either a pickup that goes in the sound-hole of your existing acoustic guitar, or a new acoustic guitar with a built-in pickup. Non-built-in pickups go for about 50 dollars and good-sounding acoustic guitars with built-ins start at about 400.
Hope this helps-
