i'm doing a piano homework thing where you have to put chords to a composition. mine is in A minor (i.e. no sharps/flats). what am i going to put for a bit that has a d, then the b a third below? i put an E minor with that, but it really clashes and i can't think of anything better. inspiration?

There's not really enough information there for us to help you. We don't know if your are talking about a d and b on the same beat, are they moving? are they half notes in ameasure, are you trying to put a chord with each of those? What chord do you have before these notes and what chord do you have after these notes?

Without any other information I would suggest you use a 5 of 5 in 1st inversion.

Well, Em is a good idea, but if it clashes maybe a G or Cmaj7?
