Ever since the movie "Twilight" came out, people have been wanting to learn how to play the song "Bella's Lullaby" - a nice, gentle piece played by the movie's main character. Actually, this piece was originally written by pianist/composer Yiruma and titled "River Flows in You."
Many of the movies viewers were so enthralled by this music they wanted to learn how to play it via the written sheet music.
That's all well and good, but did you know that you can create your own music like this? And it won't take years or even months. I'm talking days here. The secret is in learning a "chord-based" approach to piano playing.
One of the chord structures I have my beginning piano students learn is something called the open position chord. This chord structure allows you to play today's modern music using both hands right away!

Let's take a look at how we might create something like "Bella's Lullaby." First, this music is failry easy in that it uses one key and a few chords from that key. The orlginal composer, Yiruma is actually considered "New Age" and when you hear the music, you'lll know why.
The lesson "Reflections in Water" (available below) uses modern sounding open position chords and will have you improvising your own music in no time at all. The secret is in the chord structure. It's so open and wide that both hands are called into play right away! You are given a few chords to start with. You learn them and learn the notes from the C Major scale and you're ready to create your own music.
