yeah rach rules... i`m learning the sonata, and i just played rach 1 for a competition
i`m sort of getting more into prokofiev though- has very inetersting progressions
just learned the toccata, which is quite technical but really cool, and planning on learning one of the concertos
if you like rach you should also look into scriabin- it`s almost like what rach would have written if he`d lived 30 more years. i especially recommend the sonatas(ashkenazy)

holy shyt yaakov...his sonatas are hard...especially the d minor one..good luck with that.im playing the rach 2 for a couple concerto competitions...i love that prokofiev toccata though..it sounds so..um..toccataish?..yea..prokofiev is so raw..his second piano concert seems very difficult...i always compare the rach 2 to prokofievs 3rd cuz theyre both extremely well rounded, and beautifully ingenious...and rach 3 to prokofievs 2nd..cuz theyre both incredibly hard and are known for their difficulty but arent(in my opinion) as well structured and beautiful as the rach2 and prokofievs 3rd
