Well, it is hard to say. Depends on your price range.

Of course Steinway are probable the world`s best piano maker but you would probably have to re-mortgage your hous to afford one.

So, unless you are Bill Gates I would have to say that Yamaha, Kawai and Ronich are the best brands that are within a normal person`s price range.

Here is a little generalisation of the diffrent brands.

Ronich- Very nice tone, Well made and nice designs. However, as with many German makes the touch can be quite heavy.

Yamaha: Very good all round pianos, Nice design, Balanced touch, and VERY VERY VERY robustly built. Usually a nice sound but can be a little jangley and bright with some models.

Kawai- (I have one of these) Well made, Loverly tone, Nice design, touch can be a little heavy with certain models. Generally a nicer sound than yamaha`s but not quite as robustly built.

Remember, this is a rash generalisation of the different brands because each piano (even of exactly the same design) is very differnt.

Thanks for reply.
Indeed I meant classical piano makers - those, who make wooden pianos or grand pianos.
Who is who here?

Hello,

I was refering to classical pianos as well. (I do believe that Yamaha and Kawi make electric pianos, but I REALLY HATE ANY FORM OF ELECTRIC PIANO!)

Real pianos have soooooo much more feeling.

There many other brands other than the one I just mentioned butI don`t know alot about them.

If I may ask, what qualities are you looking for in a piano?

I have a Steinway and it`s a great piano.
If you have the money then Bechstein, Bosendorfer, or Bluthner would be a nice instrument to play. They are very expensive.
August Forester makes a nice instrument for slightly less.
Schimmel`s are considerd a good value for the price.
Mason Hamlin also might be considered, although the older ones are better then the newer ones.

Less expensive pianos that are decent instruments might be the Petrof or Boston or maybe even a high end Kawai.

amazing instruments.

I see, thank you.
But when you are talking about "high prices" - which level you mean exactly?
And what to your opinion is good pricing for Shimmel`s pianos?
