Trying to choose amongst the following 4:
Roland D-150
Yamaha P80 (or maybe P60)
Korg SP-200
Suzuki Keyman KM-88s

I`m a new player. Basically I want very good acoustic piano sound and feel, but don`t care that much about other bells and whistles. I want something that is well built, as my children will be using it for lessons in the coming years (they are 3 and 5 now)

Any help on deciding amongst these, or others I should be considering would be GREATLY appreciated.

For less than $1,000, I think it would be very very difficult to match the Technics SX P-50, if you would be willing to expand your list. I`ve owned one for 18 months, and it has been perfectly reliable - it has traveled a lot in my car and it seems very tough. The main purpose of this unit is to get as close as possible to the sound and feel of an acoustic piano, so it doesn`t have many features, but the three main piano voices more than make up for this (concert grand/pop grand/upright). I tried many models before buying, and I honestly believe you would have to spend two or three times as much to match its piano reproduction. The Yamaha P80 doesn`t even come close, and I found the feel of the Yamaha unresponsive and `spongy`.
Check out the `User Reviews` section for Synths at www.harmony-central.com for more reviews. You should find several reviews of the pianos on your list as well as the SX-P50. Most reviews for the Technics rate it very highly, it`s easily the best in its class in my honest opinion.
Hope this helps!

I am a beginner and I have just purchased a Yamaha P60. You can pick them up in the UK now for £500. ( $ do the math) I think this Piano is amazing. I am having lessons on an acoustic Yamaha upright and the P60 in terms of feel is nearly identical. In terms of value for money this is amazing and of course the build quality is very impressive. I would say that a beginner wanting a true piano sound and feel would find it hard to beat the P60 at this price.
