Hello everyone. I just have a small question for you all

My piano teacher has decided that I shall learn Rhapsody in Blue for my next solo (which will be sometime in the next 6-8 months) and since I will not have the luxury of having a wind ensemble/orchestra, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good arrangement of this piece for solo piano only (that would include the solo piano part and the orchestral parts if needed). Hopefully I`ll be going downtown to the RCM store and Remenyi in the next week or so to buy this piece. However any help as to whom arranged by or versions of the piece is appreciated!

Thanks.

~Wing

It`s very hard to find it around here... (I live in Moscow, Russia)
Thing is, all they have of Gershwin`s is his 3 piano thingies, Porgy and Bess and other stuff...
I`ve even tried the music conservatory! You`d think they`d have it there, but NO, all they have is the piano+orchestra version...
My parents don`t like internet shops so they won`t let me order it...
ARGGHHH!! My life is a mess sometimes.

Well I`ve seen it before (piano solo only) but wasn`t sure if there was a better one floating around that I have never seen yet, that was a really good version. The version I saw was piano solo only, no accompaniment required.

Nah, I have a messenger but it doesn`t work since I lost my password...
And no, I`m not in the Tschaikowsky conservatory (unfortunately), but I go there sometimes to find sheet music I needince I`m 15 years old; second, I don`t think I`ll ever go there in order to study because my parents won`t allow it... *Sigh*

ive just bought a copy off www.musicroom.com:

http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/012905/details.html

thats if you still cant find it on the internet, i gave up searching, as i dont think anyone will post 32 pages of music up :P ... its great i think but its not hard covered, just paper so its a bit flimsy, but its the piano solo by itself, not for two or with orchestra

hope that helps

Of course there`s a solo piano version... it`s the original version that Gershwin wrote. Rhapsody in Blue was orchestrated by Whiteman (actually I think it was some guy working for him) but not Gershwin himself. So if you`re looking for a piano solo version, you should go with the original one, not one of the crappy easier versions. :-) You can get it here...

Good luck!
