I prefer tenor...alto gets some nice melodies though...both are pretty easy to pick up on, esp. if you already can raed music, and keep a beat. If you like the flute`s constant melody, get alto, but if you want something different, yet not baseline go tenor.

I play the piano, Tenor, alto and soprano. I played the piano since i was four and when i turned 17 my parents - because i nagged on at them for years about it - went and bought me a tenor. I then saved up for 2 years (bearing in mind this meant no drinking, boozing, clubing, buying DVD`s, computer games etc.. - not an easy task!!!!) and bought myself an alto and then my parents bought me a soprano for christmas.
What you will find though, is that there is a load of music for an alto and hardly any for the tenor and soprano. The reason is because alot of pop song sax solos are written for the Alto.
But you can transpose your music into your sax`s key and it comes up a beauty! - especially if you can play piano.(I`ve transposed loads of melody lines and it sounds great!)
If you can play the flute you`ll pick up the sax as quickly as learning to tie your shoelaces. I reckon you`ll probably want to learn them all! Good luck in whatever you choose.
