I am the only girl bari in my county(and the best!!! not kidding either) I personally think bari sounds better with a woman playing it!!!!

Well...I am definitley not a girl, yet the Bari is one of my favorite instruments... it was acutally the first sax I started on, and my second instrument(I started on Flute >_<!!!)that I learned to play...so I say you go girl... as far as the Contra Bass is concerned... its a pretty cool instrument, played, liked it some,gotta admit I didnt get a note on it till like... half an hour or so

There are two girl sax players in my symphonic band. One is first alto and one is first tenor. We only have one bari. He's a guy, and he's a so-so kind of player.
We have three bari players in our band, two of whom are women. Technically, they play better because they've taken lessons and been taught properly. The guy who plays, however, is seventy-odd and self taught. When it comes to jazz and improv and doing his own thing he's far and away the best of the three, but he's a terrible bandsman.
On the other hand, lady alto players are few and far between around here. I am the only lady altoist in our section, and there are a couple in the concert/senior section. I am also the only woman in the whole band (excepting the boss) who plays soprano.

I play baritone as well! I'm a beginner but I am the only girl in my school (and there is a LOT of sax players.) It's tough being the only girl sometimes, though.
I play the bari sax, and I am a girl. I looove the bari sax. It's my favorite... You aren't alone! Sadly, I'm probably not as good as you. You seem really awesome.
I mainly play tenor sax but i just started playing bari sax in the second semester. I am the only girl sax player in our symphonic band and i'm the shortest. All the tall guys in our band play the alto.
Hey I'm not tryin to brag but i am really good at bari sax. i get private lessons and i know ohw you feel because the other bari sax at the high school i will be going to next year sucks. lol i started out on alto but was to easy before that iplayed clarinet which was wayyyy to easy but fun and this is a bit challenge but i love it and plan on buying one and if you would recommend any particular brands please
