Whats the difference between a straight neck and a curved neck on a soprano sax?

There is no difference to the sound, just preference!

I HAVE TO DISAGREE. I HAVE A NEW YANI SOPRANO AND THE BENT NECK HAS A MORE MUTED SOFTER SOUND. THE STRAIGHT IS CRISPER AND MORE PUNCTUATED BY FAR. I LOVE THE VERSATILITY IT GIVES YOU IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC.

I have to say that the straight neck gives you a sharper sound, while the curved gives you a more muted sound. I noticed that when I used the curved neck for a orchestra proformance once.

Hi, I am in 9th grade and am thinking about learning soprano sax for the symphonic band at my school. I am already great at flute and it has gotten me far. If anyone has any comments or good sites for/about soprano sax, please e-mail me or comment.

I have just bought a curved soprano sax but I`m having trouble finding books to learn from.

Can somebody just answer this one question:

Is the fingering for a soprano sax the same as for an alto or tenor? `cause if it is then I can just get one of those books/fingering charts.

Nick, I have trouble finding sax music for my soprano too. So usually what I do is get tenor sheet music because they play in the same key.

As a trumpet player, I double on alto but would like to get a soprano and would like to hear opinions about preferences. I had a friend who brought both a vintage curved Conn soprano and a newer model straight soprano on gigs and the difference was striking; the Conn was full-bodied with loads of projection and the straight(can`t remember brand) was very tinny and anemic. I`m looking for something with the qualities of the vintage Conn. Any suggestions?
