I am an intermediate to advanced saxophone player looking to upgrade from my Yamaha YAS23 to an intermediate or possibly a professional alto saxophone. I will pay up to $3,000 for one. I will play in college bands and such, but mainly classical solo work, not typically jazz. What saxophone would be best for me?
email me for pics of my sax im selling. i bought it when i was at the same point your at now. i used it for classical, jazz and solo competitions. thru highschool and college. the cigar cutter was the best sax i ever put my hands and most will say the same.
I was in the same metaphorical boat a few years ago. I ended up getting a YAS 62 II. I love Yamahas and the cool thing about them is they all feel the same, regardless of whether it's an alto, tenor, bari, or soprano. I love mine, but, of course, I'd personally try some out to get the feel of it.

The 62 is a pro model, by the way. My friend has an intermediate one (I don't remember the name, but it's a Yamaha) which is cool, but I'd just go the whole nine yards.
