Does anyone know of this make, please? - "Schwarzschild"
I've just seen a rather pretty one for sale on Preloved but don't know anything about the make, nor does my teacher. Would I be waisting my money or would it be O.K. I'm an adult beginner on this instrument. I'm cuurently playing an alto. Thanks in advance.

I'd avoid - always go for a known brand. There is a load of rubbish out there.

I think it's gone now. I had another look on pre-loved and it said the message was archived but thanks for the reply. Can I ask another question, please? Is the fingering for soprano, alto, tenor and baritone all the same? Thanks again, Josephine

Yes, all fingerings are the same with the exception being the low A option on bari (there are some altos with this option, most notable the Mark IV). Soprano and tenor are in Bb and Alto/Bari in Eb. This is done so that anyone who knows one sax can play any other type of sax without having to transpose. For example, if a composer wants a concert C, the composer will write an Eb on alto and bari and a Bb on tenor (and soprano if there is one).

Thank you! Now I have to be on the lookout for nice inexpensives different kind of saxes. It opens a whole new world. I was surfing last night and was looking at soprillo saxes and listening to them. It said they were so difficult to play that only professionals could play them. Kinda makes me want to make me prove them wrong! :>) But I'm sure they are right. Still if anyone has an unwanted one to give away I won't turn them down! :>
