Hi, My friend got a vintage tenor sax which is nonplayable, needing overhaul. I took the chance to find if the size of my fingers is enough to play a bigger instrument like the tenor. I was dissappointed, it's hard for my left little finger to reach the farthest key. And the keys to be pressed by the right little finger is lacking

But I doubt if my fingers are truly small for the tenor if I will use the very old tenor as basis cause obviously many parts are bended.

Is it possible that newer tenors, not vintage or very old ones, can accomodate smaller fingers like mine? Thanks to all.

You may read some articles on sax history, you may find answers to your problem.

Off course, try to be patient on consulting other tenor/alto sax players who frequently visit this site.

You have options.
Option one, There are companies that make 'extenders'. for those keys that are too far away from you. If you find a genius repair person there are some that are Very good at fabricating things for you.

Option two, you might try finding a Martin or Yanagisawa (Selmer clone).

Option three, you might find moving the thumb rest a little is all you need. Any repair person should be able to do that.
