I'm a freshmen music major at Eastern Illinois University on alto sax. While I can do vibrato--that's not the problem-- I can't do it freely. It doesn't sound as natural as it should, it's very metered, etc; I can't separate the beat from the vibrato pulse, if that makes sense. I'm trying to work on it over the summer here currently so I can move on a little farther in my private studies at school, but I'm at a standstill. Help anyone?
