Okay, just to let you know, I don't take voice lessons or anything, but through books and studying woodwind instruments I've tried to grasp some idea of singing. People have told me that no matter what style you're singing in, the basics remain the same. Is this true? What do you have to change to sing blues, rock, opera, country or another genre different from basic classical singing?

As in, is there more or less resonance in one genre versus another? Is there a noticeable difference in the timbres of the different genres?
