I can play up at a high F (above the staff) on average. The highest I have ever played is the Super C (double C).

I am a French Horn player and this will be my Senior year of highschool coming up. I've been playing since 6th grade, but honestly didn't start practicing until the end of my freshmen year. I wish I would have started earlier.

I learned to play trumpet easily enough, after playing mellophone for marching season. With the right trumpet concert mouthpiece I can plus high F's above the staff on average on trumpets.

I love high notes. As for low notes on horn I can get a little lower below the F two octives below the staff. I haven't worked on low nearly as much as my high range, but working on it actually helps my high range. :D

By the way, I only count notes as my highest ever if I hold them out for at least 3 seconds with a clear tone, not an airy squeak.

Truly,

Joey

As for that, I don't actually play the trumpet. I can pick it up and read it. My total time ever is like four hours. I just find it "easy". So I may not be able to answer any questions like that. I just like messing around with my trumpet friends when I can pick up a trumpet and stuff. Now if it's about tranposing I can help you out with that.

Once again,

Joey

What are the best fingerings for notes past two octaves above middle C? I can find them anywhere.

Just use the same fingers that were used from the middle C up again if you're using a double horn. Once you get really really high in the register it doesn't really matter what you push down...heh.

The highest I've ever gone was an A as well - on one leger line one, also known as a concert D.
I only started about a year ago though.

Thanks for the tip. I sometimes squeak out high notes by accident, lol, and wondered if the fingerings were right.

The fingerings help for comfort, but once you get in the upper register it's up to your lips to do the work.

I can usually pop out a C above the staff, if I try hard enough.

Ok, ive been playing the trumpet for a long time, and I can currently hit a super B.
Thats 3 octaves up from the middle B right below middle C.
I can screm for about 14 seconds on that super B, and sometimes I can sqeal out a super C.
(I can hit these on a 7c Vincent Bach mouthpiece)

I just want to warn all you out there that you should never apply force to push the mouthpiece into your lips, because that is very bad for your playing, and for your teeth as well.

One way people think will improve their upper register range is by using the "special mouthpiece." Well let me tell you, the myths are right in some ways, and wrong in ohters.

The shallower the mouthpiece cup, then the easier you will be able to get to the highest note you can play with your original mouthpiece.

They are worng because they don't give you any extra range at all.

All shallower motuhpieces do is make is easier for you to hold out the highest note that you can already hit!!!.

I also warn you against playing with a shallow mouthpiece all the time.
If all you do is use a shallow mothpiece, then you will do is screw up your emboucher, and start heading back to square one.

its ok to use it for a high solo, but not for more then 30 minuets straight.

Good Luck all trummpeters out there. I hope that this information was useful.

I can play up to high C any time I want to! On good days I can even play up to high E, but it takes effort. This is a miracle to me, a horn player who was stuck on high G for three years. I'll be posting later about how I learned to play so high.

So, I finished All-State and wanted to see what I could do. I played about 100 High F's. 50 G's+ And 10 Super C's. All clear. I'm happy.

Woot for french horns.
