Hi,
I have been playing the flute for 7 years and I feel like I need to try something new. I am looking into trying the french horn because our school band doesn't have any. I need toknow some basic info about the horn and about the switch. What about embouchure? Reading music? Fingerings?
it really interests me.
Thanks

Press your lips together & blow! No kidding. I believe any beginner should play with whatever works best for them. I've seen too many beginners get messed up by instructors that try to force them into a "correct" embouchure. There is no one and only "correct" embouchure.

If it works, it's correct! If it doesn't, then the student needs to experiment with different positions and may seek outside help. But, always be wary of anyone who tries to force a certain prescribed "correct" position for your chin, lip corners, cheeks, etc. Everyone is an individual, and what works for one may not work for all.
