Hey
I'm planning on studying French horn in UK - I live in Denmark at the moment.
Does anyone know how the thumb valve on a standard English horn is installed? which site of the horn will be played when not pushing the thumb valve? Bb or F?
Also I've wondered which side is the most used in UK? if there is a tendency?
Thanks a lot for reading!

I could be wrong as I'm in the USA but I think most Horn I have come across are set to stand in Bb, so engaging the change valve places the Horn in F. It might not matter to you though, as most Horns I have seen and played from England are able to be set either way.
I am finding more USA players setting up their instruments to stand in Bb.Of the Horns I play regularly I have 1/2 set to stand in Bb and half set to stand in F.

That is supposed to say - - most Horns from the UK and AUS, that I have come across stand in Bb.
