Have any of you gone or are any of you going to a Tuba Christmas?

My band director got an e-mail about the one in Wayne county last Saturday, so I went to that one. They said that the one in Akron has like 600 tuba players, so I thought there'd be a good chance that some tuba players one this forum have gone or are going to a Tuba Christmas.

I love Tuba Christmas! I went to the Rochester, NY one this year (with about 300 tubas), actually it's last year at Midtown.

When you say Wayne county, what state are you talking about?

Wayne county is in the middle of nowhere in Northeast Ohio.

At least the one I'm talking about. I've only heard of another one in Michigan. How many are there?

Never mind, there's 16 in the U.S.

Tuba Christmas is all over the US. I think there are 2 of them in Oklahoma, and if Oklahoma has something involving music, rest of world prolly got a whole lot more lol.
Also, I was wondering how difficult the music they play is. I would be interested in going to one this year. It just seems like a lot of fun

Oh, sorry, got my info wrong, there's only one in Oklahoma.

Well they actually have two levels of music. Hard and Easy. The Easy level is pretty much whole, half and Quarter Notes (rarely Quarter Notes).

The hard is also split up into levels, high and low. Depending on your range you would want to use one or the other. The low section isn't that hard, no real complicated Rhythms. I would say that anyone at a middle school (well 7th grade+) would have little trouble playing the "hard" level. They are mostly recognizable Christmas tunes, so if the Rhythm looks complicated, it won't be after you recognize the piece.
