I stumbled upon this while actually searching for a RHCP forum, id like to state some things about this previous thread - You can read if youre interested, Ill make a few points and its not short

1) Pearl Jam were never a RHCP cover band, ever, they wrote a RHCP style song called `Dirty Frank` while on tour with them, moreso because theyre friends than to honor their music - Yet one person says this, and working in the sheep way society does, people follow what that no-nothing says without their own evidence

2) RHCPs impact was nothing compared to Pearl Jams impact - It took years and years for RHCP to really become noticed, Pearl Jam arguably have the biggest debut album of all time - `Ten` did to `Nevermind` what `Nevermind` did to Michael Jacksons `Thriller`, as it may seem overshadowed now due to Kurt Cobains death, Pearl Jams impact on music at the time was second to none, and they were the most important band on earth, something RHCP have never accomplished

3) Pearl Jams influence is much more wide spread than RHCPs cover ever reach - The band Incubus has a website called www.incubusbootlegs.com - where did they get this idea? from Pearl Jams REVOLUTIONARY idea of releasing a tour on cds which many bands including Phish aswell have followed - everyone from Staind to Rage Against the Machine have named Pearl Jam as an influence

4) To the IDIOTS who know nothing about Pearl Jam`s music, as a musician myself and someone knowledgable in music theory for over 15 years, Pearl Jam has almost more variety in their albums and songwriting than any other band in history, rivaled only by the Beatles and possibly Pink Floyd - They use various time signatures, various instruments, and their song writing ranges from punk rock to acoustic - When RHCP have that kind of variety, let me know, because I own 5 RHCP and they certainly do not - Try listening to Pearl Jams albums before you comment on them, one of the reasons Pearl Jam isnt nearly as popular today as they used to be is because many music critics would say they experimented TOO much

5) This isnt a match or an argument, its a slaughter - USA Today readers recently named Pearl Jam the best American band of all time - RHCP wasnt even in the top 20

6) It seems the people who said Pearl Jam were familiar with the music of RHCP, yet no one who said RHCP was better was familiar with Pearl Jams music, get a clue

This is why Pearl Jam won that argument, and why I had to make a whole new thread to bury the argument.

dude get out of the bubble you live in asswhipe, have you ever heard of Dream Theatre, Symphony X, Evergrey and many other bands that use a larger variety of time signatures, instruments and song writting than Pearl Jam, Pink floyd (they suck by the way), and The Beatles (they rock by the way).
im just saying that if you know so much about music you should get to know more music to say things like these.
Plus i think pearl jam is pretty good, not to good for my taste but still you give them ti much credit because you seem to stick to bands that only apear on rolling stones maghazine or mtv man, get out of that shiit and look for some real music
