I`m playing Pete Murray`s `better days` atm... anyone know any good acoustic songs that are a similar chill out style that are recent? (like within 2 years)

Good Acoustic I can think of are:

City And Colour Save Your Scissors

City And Colour - Hello I'm In
Deleware

The Fray - Unsaid

Oasis - Don't Go Away (Live Acoustic)

The Goo Goo Dolls - Iris (Acoustic)

The Goo Goo Dolls - Acoustic # 3

Hundred Reasons - Falter (Acoustic)

The Early November - Sunday Drive

Rise Against - Roadside

Idlewild - Live In A Hiding Place

Margot And The Nuclear So And So's - Ocean

Never Ending White Lights (Ft Dallas Green) - The Grace (Not Acoustic, But a damn good song)

Radiohead - High And Dry

Iron And Wine - Any Song (they're all pretty much good acoustics)

Eagle Eye Cherry - Falling In Love Again

Oasis - Cast No Shadow (Live Acoustic)

Vashti Bunyan - Diamond Day

City and Colour songs are sang by Dallas Green out of Alexisonfire, however for those who are accustomed to Alexisonfire, City and Colour does not resemble anything close to Alexis. Dallas Green has also done other songs that are not part of the City And Colour collection, which are well worth looking for, if you take a liking for the City And Colour sound. :D

I'd recommend the Tea Party's "Winter Solstice" or "Sister Awake"...alot of the clasics recommended on this site are good too. You could try Everything Ordinary by Dreams of Treason....I think they've got a sample up on their myspace page.

What's the best acoustic song of all time? Anyone hazard a guess?

I reckon the best acoustic song would have to be by one of the old folk legends eg. Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthri and the sorts but there is some alright new stuff. As long as its not Pete Murray or Jack Johnson.
But at the moment i really like:
I Want you by Bob Dylan
Hurt by Johnny Cash
