And one more thing, OF COURSE I KNOW SAUCEDO!!! He has written for the Cavaliers, and if I'm not mistaken teaches at or writes for Carmel High School.
AK42
Are you still in High School? And if so does your band compete in BOA?
AK42
No problem. I don't really look at them either. It's all good : )

I was recently trying to play a trumpet (don't know how of course) So, I would try to get this thing to make a consistent note, and my friend pointed out that everytime I did this, I closed my eyes really tight. So, maybe people who can't play started the whole dark glasses look ---> that way know one knew their eyes were closed!

Dan,
I just read your comment from 2 months ago. I am happy to contribute to this forum. I truly believe we must cultivate our gardens. OR if we don't help the younger generation understand and appreciate music, they won't. And if they don't then professional musicians will have no income and music as we know it will die.
And there is just too much mis-information out there.
So I am just being selfish.

Whenever I see a piano player wearing sunglasses, I tend to think they are blind! I guess it's a ray charles, stevie wonder stigma...
FrenchHornPlayer93
Oh...nothing much. Suffering from a bad sunburn *OUCH*, trying to rest up from my camping trip...how about you?
ShanaMaria
Why do jazz and blues players wear sunglasses?
FrenchHornPlayer93
Hmmmm...try going to your "Home" page...it's up at the top right hand side of your mnitor, click on it...I think you'll find my request there! LOL =]

I don't exactly live in Clay City...but I spend a BUTT-LOAD of my time in Clay City though with marching band, school, and hanging with my bestest friend in the whole wide world! Haha! It's really nice at times because you can walk around town whenever you want and you know everybody and people don't mind if you walk through their yards to get to the next block quicker. And there are a few diners that people hangout at and that type of stuff! I spend a bunch of time at my BFF's house, Saiti, she's sooo awesome! Actually, I just got back from her house right now! LOL It can be a BIG pain in the rear though because since it's such a small town, word of bad things travel FAST!!! That's really the only bad thing though...So, quick question...how old are you? you said you were in like 2nd grade for the 2002 olympics, so you're like what a junior in highschool?
FrenchHornPlayer93
Wow! I didn't even know Clay City had THAT big of a population!!! LOL I guess you learn something new every day! So how old are you? What's it like to live in BIG city??
FrenchHornPlayer93
I sure am! And I'm proud of my Indiana heritage! LOL Where are you from?
ShanaMaria
The mall story is too funny!
So you're not allowed to play in a mall at all, or you're not allowed to collect money for playing in a mall? Maybe they wanted a cut...

| Hey zoom. I was wondering, do you have any fairly long, fairly difficult brass fanfares? Like something for a solo/ensemble? |
|
Not really – the longest so far is a 40-second effort for six trumpets, lowest part playable on bone. It's sort-of functional/ceremonial/presidential rather than hit-the-judges-for-a-six. (Nevertheless, you're welcome to a copy.)
I'm working on a two-minute-plus thing, possibly for the Dallas Wind Orchestra annual competition. (3 tpts, 4 horns, 3 bones, possibly euphonium, tuba, possibly percussion.) The writing's a slow process due to my stopping and starting, and also because I'm not really in touch with an ensemble that could blow through a draft version. This piece, when it's finished, would be more in the style of what you're after, I guess. No extreme ranges, but everybody will have some work to do.

How soon's your comp? What's the line-up?

Hi DTM – HOT!!
I was down at Coogee Beach a couple of days ago and got a real blasting of sun, most of which must have been reflected up from the sand. (Naturally I was all kitted out in hat, etc.)
I've been reading all you guys' reports of snow, days off school and whatnot. Exact opposite here! Well, all the school kids are having their summer vacations, getting into their parents' booze cabinets, spray painting the neighbourhood ... all that. AND going wild on Coogee Beach.
Let's know if you want any more brass stuff (although the latest bits and pieces are all for trumpet, with optional horn and bone for the lower parts only).
music_girl_27
well well well, SOMEONE got a new picture (not to name any names, DAN) lol it looks good lol

Hi Dan,
Right now, I am attempting to juggle bassooning, music librairaning, and drum major tryouting, lol. I have been busy, but I still log on occciasonally. Doesn't it seem that this site really dies down during the non summer months?
Canadian
Ah, yeah. Quebecois. Not many people in Canada speak French though, at least for the western provinces. I'm glad I moved to the East though. More people to speak french too.
Canadian
You must mean a "Chesterfield". It's not really Canadian lingo, it's just an old word for Sofa or couch. Most people here say sofa or couch. Canadian's aren't that different from American in way of speech.
tenorsaxist
It is Kim Laskowski, the NY Phil assistant principal bassoon!

I just made the 1715th hit on your page! lol, how have you been?

bowsirbleck
what would you do if you had a site then your friend said it sucked and he never talked to you again?
Toptrump04
noooooooo wayyyy!!! Just a tpt. No offense to the instrument, but the mellophone is a horrible mutation of the french horn and should be banned from all ensembles...even corps. Ok, maybe that was a little offensive.
