About Me
Making music has been my life`s work and pleasure. I have played the piano since I was four years old. I continued taking lessons and eventually studied long and hard enough to get three degrees in music performance. I am now a teacher and performer and love sharing my music with the world. I have had the joy of teaching piano to many wonderful students over the years and I especially enjoy helping adults discover the joy of playing the piano. Interests
I love to teach, perform and travel and in my spare time walk the beach and read historical novels.

Hi Dan,

I am still finding my way around the forum and just discovered your comment to me on my profile page - sorry it has taken me so long to respond!

My "Play Piano Today with Dr. J" tutorials are based on the pentatonic scale. It is a rote method to help adult beginners start to develop some technical facility before presenting the musical language of note and rhythm reading.

By using the pentatonic scale, creative accompaniment patterns can be created to well-known melodies which encourages more freedom for a beginning pianist than the traditional note reading method. Just think how long it was before you actually played a song with both hands - that is if you started using the traditional note/rhythm reading method.

Well, my method gives adults a song to play - success very early! This then is the physical foundation on which the other concepts are introduced.

"Dr. J", (Haha, nice touch. Played any basketball lately?) I looked at your website...it seems too good to be true. I mean, telling students that they will be able to play, really play the keyboard in just one day...it just doesn't seem feasible. It took me years to get where I am, and I'm not terribly proficient on the piano. My question to you is: How does this miracle work? I do not need to learn the piano. I have played for years. I am merely a consumer wondering about a product.
