Hi i`m Abigail and I have been playing the oboe for 5 years. I have loved playing the oboe
ever since I started in the 5th grade! I love band and am a total band geek! My friends
think I'm really weird lol. I am first chair oboe, but I guess I'm the only oboe in my band
haha! I live in a really small town and sometimes drive a few hours to take private oboe lessons.
I just was accepted into a youth orchestra and I might enter a concerto contest that's comming up
soon!


I also play the english horn... and I LOVE playing it just as much as the oboe!!! I play on a Fox 520, and love the sound of it! If only there was more music written for enlgish horn!

I Just had my first reed lesson! It was really fun! My teacher helped me make a reed blank so I could practice scraping and tying!

I am in our school band. I don't like it as much as orchestra though, because our band teacher won't let us play anything
more difficult than a grade 2.5! :( Also, I usually have
to play the same stuff as the flutes, rest for 10 measures at a time, or play at the same time as the trumpets so I can't hear myself!

I talked to my band teacher today, and she is letting me transpose some of my oboe music to english horn music!!!


I also play flute and saxophone in our school's pep band, but I don't like them nearly as well as the
oboe! I sing first soprano in our school's choir. Last year I got a star on my vocal solo at regionals
and a 1 at state. I sang the national anthem at a baseball game and sang "You Raise Me Up" at Relay for Life.

Today will be my 7th youth symphony practice! We are playing lots of great music! My top 3 favorite songs are:

1. Danse Bacchanalle- Saint-saens (I get to play the solo at the beginning! :D)
