Ok this is how it goes... I started playn the oboe in 6th grade now in 9th. I quit for awhile, like a month and havent played it since. I started guitar but there is this little voice in my head thats saying play the oboe. Well, i wuz thinkn bout it and thought nah i don`t wanna. I hate classical music. SO MUCH@!! i got first chair in my orchestra so its not like i havn`t played it. And so, I come to you with a question. I love jazz music, so is it possible for an oboe to play Jazz?? I think that if it is.. i may have new inspiration for playing and get back to it.

I`ve never heard of an oboe playing anything in jazz band. It would be a cool thing to try though. Perhaps if you read saxophone music, it would be possible.

There`s a group called "Oregon" that features jazz oboe. It`s odd, but the genre you`re speaking out anyway.
