Next year I will be the only flute player that will be in sinor band. I started in beginer this year and moved up to sinor in less than two months but the girl that is the other flute is REALLY good. and I have no idea if i can be as good or better than her, Im only in 7th grade and its hard were playin high school songs and Its getting really hard to keep up with her. I cant even do a simple run. what should I Do?

If you play to be better than someone else, you should give up now. Unfortunally there this atitude with flute players that they have to be better than the next flute player. Luckly I came from a school with 3 flute players, and everyone knew their place. When I got into a studio at the cllege level I was so glad that there wasn`t these petty arguments. So, instead of trying to become better than her, try to learn something from her. Plus you are only in 7th grade, you have plenty of time to move up the ranks.
