Im having trouble with time signatures like 3/4, 4/4, 6/8 exactly what are they?

3 beats in a measure; quarter note gets one beat

4/4

4 beats in a measure; quarter note gets one beat

6/8

six beats in a measure
eighth note gets one beat

Its easier to play 6/8 then explain it.
