Well, I would say that the oboe or bassoon are the best choices for a second instrument. I have been playing percussion for about five and a half years now and I have been thinking of what secong instrument I want to learn and I chose the oboe. I just rented one a few days ago and it`s really hard but it`s fun having such a big challenge. It`s a great instrument with a beautiful sound and I think that anyone can learn it..I mean look at me..a percussionist who has never played an instrument that you have to blow air through or use fingerings for and I`m doing it! The oboe will also bring a lot of scholarships and grants to those who play it and play it well. Godd luck to all thoses who are choosing the oboe!!
