I only know about flute to piccolo. It`s a bit tricky, and I wouldn`t suggest it for beginning flautists. But it`s pretty easy if your embouchure (sp?) is tight. Playing piccolo is a bit like playing upper register notes on the flute; a bit tighter and such.
Give it a try. Can`t hurt. And don`t get discouraged. It took me two weeks to get an entire scale out of the picolo; but then I ended up playing it all year with a certain amount of success.
Advice to new piccolo players: Buy one set of earplugs. Put one in your right ear and give the other to the person sitting to yoru right, for their left ear.
