I have been playing clarinet for about a year and 3/4. I love to play and I use a size 2 1/2 reed. I don`t know if I should change to a size 3. If u can help me...Pleas Do

hi.. i don`t play clarinet but i play flute and we have a clarinet in our band at city and if you change from 2 1/2 to 3 it might improve your playing and it might not!
people who play clarinets on our band change all the time so don`t be afraid to try!

The best time to go up a reed size is during a full moon when Saturn is in its northerly aspect and Venus is on the cusp of Saggitarius and Capricorn.
Seriously, though, a couple of signs that your reed is too soft is if it is wearing out really quickly, or if your sound is kind of blastly and unrefined. If this is the case you should maybe get a couple of size 3 reeds just to try out.
