I bought an old silver trumpet that has no name on it, just a number. How can I find out who made it? I know it is about 70+ years old. Thenumber on it is 018782. I can send a picture if you email me. The only other mark anywhere is on a latch on the case G&S.

First thing is first...check with your repair man. I found out the name of my clarinet (found in a pawn shop) by asking my repair man to do an appraisal on my instrument.

The problem is I live out on a ranch in Montana and the only place that might repair a musical instrument is over 50 miles from here if they would even know. How did your repair person identify yours without a name on it?
