Im the best at piano in my school and i was asked to play this Tuxedo something song for year 6 farewell in like 6 weeks. They wanted to give me the sheet music and to learn and play on the night, but i said no and gave the privilege to someone else cuz i thought it was a bad idea. This happened today and i feel now, due to ppl saying im good and i should i have taken it up and like im lazy from not doing it, terrible. I wanna do something on the night so im deciding to ask the band conductor if i could play a song i wanted on the night as opposed to that Tuxedo one.

What songs do you think would be best to ask if i could play it on the night? like something that everyone knows, is modern, most ppl like it and looks really hard when you move your hands but its actually easy. Oh yea and i just wanna say i just began grade 6 so its not as if im near the exam of grade 6... quite the opposite. Now you know my lvl of playing and my situation... any songs?

Hey, I don`t know how good you are... but here`s a suggestion: Pachelbael`s Canon in D. It`s a well known song, and sounds fairly modern even though it`s a classical piece.
Good luck,

Nathan

i very much agree that Canon in D would be an excelent song to play. Everyone does(or should) know it. Depending on the arrangement it can be hard, or it can`t. I don`t play piano, but over the summer I taught myself keyboard, and that`s the one song I wanted to be able to play perfect. AND it doesn`t matter what your hands are doing, it`s how the song sounds[/]. I`ve heard and played some songs that looked hard, but weren`t at all....and just the same, you hear songs that don`t seem hard but really are. Canon can be either way, but it TOTALLY depends on the arrangement. I have one that came with our piano, if you have Finale, i could send it to you, if not then well, best of luck on finding a great song!

Nah...I don`t like Pachelbel on piano.
I`d play one (or more, or all) of Bach`s Goldberg-Variations.

hmmm sorry, i know your trying to help but you know the pachs stuff?
its really slow. and goldberg is not enough left hand use. I want a song which has both hands working and sounds really nice but isnt too hard. I hope you kinda understand what i mean at least.

okie dokie, well, some of the music i know really (Beethoven`s 5th, Beethoven`s 9th)
isn`t for piano, but if you could get it to work out for piano that`d be awesome. & then of course there are the ppl on this site that say they can write music and you could post asking them to arrange the music for the piano.
---http://www.sheetmusicarchive.net/ seems like a great place to get music!

email me, boovp1@hotmail.com & put something about music in the subject so that it won`t go to my junkmail. bye!
