Hi. I used to play the trumpet throughout elementary school and high school. I haven`t played now in a number of years but I reecntly bought a new trumpet to get back into it and also maybe to teach my son.

My problem is that when I got the trumpet home it played fine. It was just like riding a bicycle. Sadly, it did get put away again for a while but when I brought it out yesterday, I can`t get any sound out of it. I can get sound if I take out the tuning slide but then I only get sound, not notes. It almost feels like there`s something plugging it but there`s not. It`s like trying to blow up a balloon that hasn`t been stretched out first, you feel like your head is going to blow up.

I have never experienced this problem before. Any suggestions?

Maybe you need to turn your valves.That always works for me.I usta be just like you.If turning your valves doesnt work,take it to a music shop!!!!!!!!!! KISSES! CHANTEL W.

yeah make sure all the valves are facing the right way...certain trumpet tend to let the valves twist around backwards even when they`re put in correctly so I would try that!

Check your spit valve! It sounds weird, but we all do it...forget to check our spit valves. Sometimes they get moved offline from the hole, or the screw gets loose. Even the spring can get messed up.
