Um, so I`ve had this song written up for a while now and I just thought I`d mention a couple of things that the other versions seem to be lacking. If theres a big enough interest I might see about uploading the midi file. The key signiature is probably A, and the song is probably played in E Mixolydian. First off one of the really important moving parts, which works almost like an ostinato, is the movement from B below middle C to A below middle C. This movement is VERY prominent on beats one and two of most of the measures. And I definitely hear octave A`s on two and four. And, at the end of every other measure (the piece is in 4/4, giving two chords for every measure) I hear a fill. The first time it is E7 sixteenth notes, and the second time it is a run in octaves with the right hand, thumb begins on G# above middle C, little finger one octave above that.....notes are G# A B C# E F# A. This run is straight sixteenth notes and begins on the "e" of beat 3. Thats all for now, if you dig what I`m saying, email me and I`ll be glad to contrubute more of what I hear, if you don`t, then feel free to ignore me:0)

Well all this talk about it made want to go and finish the MIDI, and so I did. I`d be willing to put down some money on its accuracy. Write for more info!!

Zach - thank you so much for the .PDF link. I`ve been looking for the file for ages. You are very generous.

Athens - yes, please upload your midi too! It`s great to hear so many different versions. Would you be able to put the sheet music into a .PDF file, too? I`d really love to play the song.

Well, I will say I`m pretty darn excited I actually found this web site. I know alot of people have been looking up and down for this theme song, and well, I`m glad I read the forum. I know I`m not the only one who wants it . Anyway, I`m trying to figure out if they will ever publish this theme song. It`s a very stunning, fast paced piece, and I would love a copy. I`m a HUGE fan of Will & Grace, and I sure do hope that they will get this song out sooner or later.

Not to mention the 2nd season just came out 3 days ago, and well, I have about 5 different version of it on both of my cell phones :O Heh. Take care everyone, and if ya`ll find anything new on it, POST it, and I`ll do the same!

Regards,
Shawn

Wow, you certainly know your stuff, and i would really be interested to hear more of what you noticed. I myself have tried to decifer notes from the audio, but it`s so fast! Please post the midi, or even better, Sibelius format.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Chris H

Ok, a few pages back, Zach wrote something up about the song incoproration of the bottom hand (which is basically A-C#-D-E through the whole song) and the top hand being an improv in A. If you follow that, you`ll understand the song better hten any midi file. YOU CANT PUT IT INTO A SCORE -- its an improv piece.

Got some e-mails from a few people who are interested in what I have to say. Writing out improvised parts is actually a fairly common thing, I have to do it often for some of my classes. I`ve written out several versions of the themesong, however I`m not too bright when it comes to computers. I`d be more than happy to mail a handwritten copy, or perhaps email a picture of the score to one or two people who`d be willing to post it somewhere for all to see...obviously I`d appreciate my name to be kept with the arrangement. Also, I`d be perfectly happy to give a more in depth description of the score (as I did earlier) if the interest is great enough. Suggestions are welcome!!!! Have a great day!!!

Sorry guys, just got back from spring break and haven`t checked the thread in a while. Athens, I kinda forget all the church scales, mixolydian is the 5th degree, right? so that would be A starting on E, but it really sounds more like the blues penatonic scale. I actually forget what key I posted it in, too lazy right now to go back and check. Other than that what you said sounds right. If you want you can e-mail me a photo of your version and I`ll post it.

Also, if the ringtone is accurate, those tend to be fairly easy to convert to score files. Worth a try if nothing else works.

Just a reminder, the current version of the score is located back on page 9. Sorry if I haven`t replied to e-mails asking for a copy of it, I`ve been pretty busy lately. But the score is posted and available.
