although i am a huge morrison fan, metallica is definitley bigger. it is mainly becuse of the songs they wrote in the late eighties that got played to late in the nineties. if the doors were still around playing music today i think they would give metallica a run for their money

OK Morrison is cool, but I think Metallica is so much bigger! They are one of the best groups around today and they are still going strong (even though St. Anger kind of sucked) anyway, go Metallica

Both of the bands are good, but no one will ever be able to compare to Jim Morrison. No Way. The doors are a legend to remember and never forget. If they were here today they would be going strong and I agree they would be giving Metallica a run for their money.

No question... Jim Morrison is definitely bigger. He was the "Sex God" of the late 60`s early 70`s throughout. He had swagger, charisma, and an altogether better appreciation for the musical era than Metallica. He dominated the media with his headstrong and evident will to be noticed. He made more of a statement than Metallica ever will. He was the kind of man who knew that all words have two meanings and wasn`t afraid to be blunt. He kept it real. Sure Metallica has that heavy metal rock drive, but they will NEVER be remembered the way Jim Morrison is being remembered today. Not only does The Doors have more hits than Metallica, but he represented more of what society was throwing out there during his tenture with The Doors. Hell, he WAS The Doors. He WAS his era. The only people bigger than The Doors at that time, most likely, was The Beatles. Metallica has had there times when they have shined through, but no one, especially from the 80`s is going to out-popularize a classic 60`s/70`s Rock icon. Maybe some of you like Metallica more because The Doors are not your style, but let`s go by hard, cold fact and look at the charts. Go by the wisdom they brought to our tables. The Doors song, that became a single; "Break on Through" was bigger and will always be bigger than Metallica`s, "Master of the Puppets", "Unforgiven", and "Nothing Else Matters." The Doors were way back when people appreciated the arts for what the really were, not what society could comform them to be. Music doesn`t have potential, it`s what it already is... and that`s exactly what Jim Morrison portrayed. He`s a martyr and you know it. I guess you`d have to be a Hippie to understand... Peace~*
